Gulfport Police are investigating an accident with a fatality involving a pedestrian. On June 1, 2019 at approximately 6:08 p.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to Highway 49 near Russell Boulevard to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.
Initial investigation revealed that a 27 year old male was riding a bicycle and attempted to cross Highway 49 when he was struck by a 2012 Dodge Charger that was travelling southbound on Highway 49. The pedestrian, a Gulfport residence, was pronounced dead on scene.
The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The driver of the Charger is cooperating with the investigation.
