On October 25, 2018 at approximately 5:23 a.m., the Gulfport Police Department responded to the area of Highway 49 and Airport Road in reference to pedestrian traffic accident. Upon arrival Officers located a 52 year old male suffering from injuries sustained in the crash. He was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The man was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Impala. The driver of the Impala had immediately stopped and called for police. The driver has cooperated fully with law enforcement personnel. The preliminary investigation revealed that the man was struck while crossing the Highway and entering the path of the oncoming vehicle.
The identity of the deceased is withheld pending proper family notification. There are no charges filed in this incident.
