On April 18, 2019, Gulfport Police arrested 58 year old James Murphy Jr. of Gulfport charging him with one count of Robbery. At approximately 3:42 A.M., officers responded to the 10000 block of Highway 49 to investigate a Robbery complaint. Initial investigation revealed that the Murphy walked into the store and produced a note demanding money and cigarettes. Murphy departed the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes. Murphy was located in the area by responding officers and was taken into custody. Murphy was later transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility with a bond set at $100,000.00 by Justice Court Judge Melvin Ray.
